BEFORE THE MACHINERY · STAGE 0

Plant preparation

Building, foundations and electrical substation. What has to be ready before the first machine arrives — and what almost nobody budgets in time.

1 · Start here

The machine arrives in 60 business days.
Will it have somewhere to land?

It is the most common budget gap in this business. The machinery is quoted, the down payment is signed, and three months later a complete line sits in a yard because the building lacks the height, the floor cannot take the load, or there is no substation to feed it.

THE QUESTION

What do you have on the site today?

BARE LAND

You need everything. Building, industrial floor, equipment foundations, substation and service connection. It is the largest investment, but also the only scenario where the layout is designed around the line instead of the other way round.

Best started in parallel with the permit file, not afterwards.

I HAVE A BUILDING BUT I AM NOT SURE IT WORKS

This is the most frequent case. An existing building may work perfectly, or may need floor reinforcement, greater clear height or a new service connection. The site survey tells you, nothing before it does.

The site survey is free of charge and it is the first thing we do.

EVERYTHING IS ALREADY IN PLACE

Good, but verify it. Confirm clear height, floor load capacity, contracted kVA and manoeuvring space. If all four check out, this stage does not apply to you.

The figures to check are in section 2.

2 · The figures that define everything

What your plant must meet

These are the requirements for a 600 to 800 kg/h granulation line. For shredding alone they are lower; for 5 t/h, higher. Compare them against what you have today — whatever falls short is your pending investment.

ItemRequirementWhy
Minimum floor area420 m²Four mandatory areas: receiving with manoeuvring yard, process, finished product and services.
Clear height6 mThe 5 t/h shredder stands 4.2 m tall. Add the feed hopper and manoeuvring space.
Floor load capacityPer foundation designA 3 t/h shredder weighs 9.8 tonnes and a 5 t/h one, 15. Defined by the soil mechanics study.
Substation300 a 500 kVADepending on configuration. 1 t/h shredding needs 225 kVA; full granulation, 300 kVA; 5 t/h, 500 kVA. Supplied by the client — we connect from there onwards.
Voltage440/220 V three-phase60 Hz, delta-star connection. Each motor with independent start, stop and thermal protection.
AguaCooling circuitOnly if you will micronise: the pulveriser runs with water cooling.
Green areaPer municipal percentageThere is no national standard: it is set by your municipality's regulations according to land use. Confirmed in the permit file.

Two different costs that get confused

When budgeting they almost always end up in a single line, and they are not the same. Separate them from the start, because we can execute one and not the other.

responsibility

To size the second one: the transformer is only part of it. Add structure, medium-voltage protection, civil works and the utility interconnection process — and bear in mind the cost varies widely with the capacity already available on your site.

This is the line item that breaks the most budgets, and almost always for the same reason: nobody checked whether there was a service connection on site, or of what capacity, before committing the machinery deposit.

This cost cannot be deferred: no substation, no start-up, no matter how complete the line and the wiring already are.

3 · How we solve it for you

We can hand you the plant ready
to receive the line

You do not have to coordinate five separate suppliers while your machinery is being built. We execute it with the same layout the responsible engineer will sign and that goes into the environmental statement — once, not three times.

IN-HOUSE MANUFACTURING

Building and structure

Arched roof, steel structure and cladding. This is our everyday manufacturing: 12,000 W fibre laser cutting, press braking up to 250 tonnes and a 4-tonne overhead crane at our own plant.

The structure is designed to the clear height and spans your line needs, not to a catalogue size.

Manufactured in Cd. Sahagún and erected on your site.

INTEGRATED GROUP

Civil and electrical works

Industrial flooring, equipment foundations, routing, cabling and control panel. Executed through GISI, the integrated infrastructure solutions group of which GITV is a member.

These are trades other than metalworking, and we say so: we do not improvise with your plant's electrical system.

Civil and electrical works are executed by the group's companies, not in-house.

📐

One survey for everything

The topography, soil mechanics and layout the permit file requires are the same ones needed to size the building and the foundations. Using separate suppliers means surveying the site three times and paying for it three times.

⏱

Done while the line is being built

The machinery takes 60 to 80 business days. Plant preparation fits entirely in that window if it starts on the same day. Start it once the machine is ready and you get three or four months of idle line.

GISI · Integrated Infrastructure Solutions Group GITV is part of GISI Integrated Infrastructure Solutions Group. Six companies delivering civil works, structure, electrical installation and concrete under a single contract — this is where the non-metalworking capability comes from. Discover GISI →

What we claim and what we do not

The steel structure we build ourselves: it is what we do every day and we can stand behind all of it. The civil works and electrical installation are executed through the integrated group, by the specialist companies that already do it.

You can contract everything with us and we coordinate, or contract only the structure and handle the rest yourself. What we will not tell you is that we do it all in-house when we do not.
